Coromus vittattus vittatus Millipedes

Coromus vittatus vittatus is a sizable banded millipede, reaching a length of up to 10 centimeters. It's widely distributed across Africa, with significant populations in Cameroon, Nigeria, and Liberia. This species thrives in warm, humid forests.

Coromus vittatus vittatus is a sought after species among millipede enthusiasts. However, breeding remains a challenge, with low success rates even in experienced keepers, this is why most of the specimens we see here in the UK are wild caught.

This millipede's body is a dark brown colour, flattened, and segmented into clearly visible sections. Its legs and antennae are reddish-brown, and a prominent yellow stripe runs along its back.

Ensure the terrarium has sufficient height, as the substrate should be at least 12 centimetres deep. The substrate serves as both habitat and food source for the millipedes and is essential for moulting.

These millipedes do well at average UK room temperatures (around 20°C), though they will thrive at 22 - 24°C.

In terms of humidity for Coromus vittattus vittatus Millipedes, somewhere between 65 - 80% is perfect.

For an adult Coromus vittattus vittatus Millipede or a group you will need to ensure you have and adequately sized enclosure as they reach around 12cm in length and like to have space to climb branches and explore.

Please note: All millipedes are captive bred by us here at The Bug Room. It is important for hobbyists to purchase captive bred animals over wild caught species wherever possible.
