Flake Soil
Flake soil is a specialist substrate that is used to feed detritivores such as beetle larvae, isopods and millipedes.
Flake soil is produced by fermenting hardwood, such as oak. Fermenting wood using bacteria for inoculation mimics the rotting process found in nature, this process takes around four months and is much faster than nature and is sustainable as the woodchips used in this process are a waste product from lumber mills.
